In school she was captain of the cheerleading squad, prom and homecoming queen, and ended up graduating as the salutatorian. Out of school she worked in her dad's law office with her brothers where her dream of being a lawyer really grew but her father had made it clear that his intentions were to pass the firm on to his sons and that her job as a southern girl was to get married and manage a house. She got engaged to her high school sweetheart, Corbin Peterson, whom she'd been introduced to by her brothers with whom he played varsity football. With Corbin she saw the potential to make both her parents and her own dreams come true and even after his injury that ended his plans to play football in college and possibly professionally.
When he enlisted she still stood by him and held onto those dreams while she completed school and passed the bar. However, when he got out they found themselves at a bit of a crossroads. Feeling like her father would never let her have a major case she started looking at some firms across the country that could really challenge her. Managing to be accepted into one of the top law offices for criminal defense in Los Angeles was more than a dream come true for her- until Corbin told her he wanted to travel. Always being one to take hold of every opportunity she could she took it to mean that they'd grown apart and with hardly any face to face contact she gave him his ring back and they parted ways hardly keeping in touch except on birthdays and holidays.
